The Entry Edit
Four Lights I’m Considering for Our Home
Finding the right fixture for an eight-foot ceiling—and why the smallest spaces sometimes deserve the most thoughtful details.
Our entry is a small space, but it’s one I’ve been slowly reworking over time. And lately, I’ve been thinking about the lighting.
Our entry is a small space, but it’s one I’ve been slowly reworking over time. And lately, I’ve been thinking about the lighting.
With an eight-foot ceiling, I know I need something that stays relatively close to the ceiling—but I don’t want that to mean settling for a fixture that disappears. Because the entry is one of the first things you see when you walk into our home, I want the lighting to feel intentional and add a little character of its own.
As I started sourcing, I noticed a pretty clear theme emerging: warm brass, soft sculptural shapes and milky, translucent materials that diffuse the light rather than putting the bulb on display.
I also want something that feels as though it could have been collected over time. Not overtly vintage, not overly modern—just interesting enough to make you wonder where it came from.
